The VULCAN:

Performance at it’s best, the Vulcan stands alone in speed, agility, and excitement. Chris has taken the highly successful wave ski hull design, and created a surf kayak that will accommodate the larger paddler, without sacrificing high end performance. “The Vulcan has a round pin tail, allowing for versatility in all conditions, and a channeled 'V' hull, which creates sensational grip and speed in the waves. A gently rolled hull at the nose transitioning to tightly beveled rails out the tail allow this boat to hold tight on steep walls and above, yet come down gently and in control.”.. The FUSION:

The Fusion is the first boat designed and built by Chris Hobson Kayaks. This is the IC boat that Chris had envisioned, inspiring the founding of Hobson Kayaks. With this boat, it is all about the rails. By sharpening the rails, Chris has given the Fusion more bite and drive. The concave sides, seen previously only on HP kayaks, have given this boat the volume needed for hold and control in the most hollow waves. They also reduce drag through high speed bottom turns. On big waves or small waves, the Fusion’s rails cut like a hot knife through Kerrygold butter. Chris has built a game changer not only for the IC class, but also for the style of finless IC surfing. The Fusion’s diamond tail shortens the rail line and quickly sheds water, increasing tail release. The Fusion has a gentle channeled V hull tail, which along with the tip of the diamond, creates maximum stability. This boat has all of the handling characteristics of a shorter HP kayak, but it doesn’t need fins. It is fast through the bottom and releases through the top like no other boat in it’s class.

The Enigma.. a cutting edge kayak designed for the experienced surf paddler. The Enigma offers drive, maneuverability, stability and control when you need it the most… deep in the green, straight drops, tight bottom turns, to off the lip aerials and solid re-entries. Did we say that this boat was for the experienced paddler? Combining many of the features of a wave ski, this high performance kayak is intended to take your surfing to the next level. “With sharp rails for drive and speed, combined with a gently rolled hull for looseness going rail to rail, it will turn off the bottom and top with control and poise. The beveled rail will further increase your ability to change direction, and the concave sides allow hold in critical sections. All this combined with a gentle channeled V tail will give that little extra directional stability and confidence on bigger waves.”

Borrowing design cues from the Fusion long boat, Hobson Kayaks have developed this shorter, high performance surf kayak. The longer hull allows the Apex to catch waves easier on small days ensuring maximum wave count. On big days, the Apex gets you on the wave earlier, keeping you out of trouble, surfing faster and having more fun than everyone else. Tight rails combine with a tri fin setup for bite and drive. Concave sides maintain volume but increase hold. The channeled 'V' diamond tail shortens the rail line and creates a natural break line that sheds water for effortless release.
