Directions to Skidaway Narrows
Follow directions from Savannah to Skidaway Island. After crossing Ferguson Avenue and the Moon River, you will approach the draw-bridge over the Skidaway River. (Exercise caution—a new bridge is under construction here to the left or north of the existing bridge.) At the beginning of the uphill grade to the draw-bridge, make a right turn into the entrance for the R. J. Hall Boat Ramp (25 Diamond Causeway, Savannah, GA 31406). Follow the entrance road as it turns right into the parking area. A picnic pavilion, located on the far side of the parking area, stands adjacent to a small beach known locally as Butterbean Beach. The put-in is at the left end of the beach area. Parking is free. (L/L at present entrance to R. J. Hall Boat Ramp: 31.949575, -81.069600; L/L at Butterbean Beach: 31.946636, -81.067835.)
Directions to Priest Landing
Follow Diamond Causeway onto Skidaway Island, proceed through two traffic lights, and then get in the left lane. Take the next left (at the four-way stop) onto McWhorter Drive and proceed north, passing underneath a golf-cart bridge in approximately one and one-half miles. In another six-tenths of a mile the road forks; bear right onto OSCA Road and follow it approximately one mile to the bank of the Wilmington River. Park here along the side of the road (at no charge). When parking, be careful not to obstruct the paved driveway to the right, which provides access to a dock owned by the State of Georgia.
