The big brother of the tron's, the Megatron is made for
the serious cake eater in the family. On the wave it’s a neutron,
meaning it’s brilliant. There are few distinguishable differences
between the two boats other that the float factor of having that extra
volume.
This is without doubt the best surfboat available for those who are
of a “slightly larger build” - Glyn Brackenbury, BCU Coach Level 5 Surf
I love my Neutron and this boat is very similar in the way it feels
and paddles, as it is simply the larger version. When I first got in the
boat I could immediately feel there was enough space and volume to grow
into it. The paddle out made me feel invincible, as the extra volume
made it feel like I was paddling a tanker! When sitting out back, the
Megatron was very stable. Because of the extra volume, I was floating
right on the surface of the water. This made take-offs effortless as I
was pushing barely any water. Even in small surf the Megatron didn't
fall off the back of the wave and I could easily regain the wave after
miss timed top turns. As I am small for the Megatron, I found it fairly
hard to engage the rail into bottom turns and found myself really
leaning into the wave, but this would be no problem for someone of the
recommended weight in the boat. I think it's great for bigger guys to
have access to the latest design in high performance surf kayaking. - Philip
