ADVENTURES

Coastal Trips      Inland River Trips      Calendar     Sapelo Slideshow    Cumberland Slideshow

"This is not a journey to be lightly undertaken, for a wilderness island is what one brings to it. It is a confrontation with one's self, and this can be both terrifying and infinitely rewarding. One is apt to lose himself and find that he can never be quite the same again.  He may lose himself to pure ecstasy strolling a deserted beach through flashing clouds of sea birds on Cumberland Island, and on another day, storm tossed, when the rain is like a whiplash and the surf roars in with savage fury, he may lose himself in the infinite sorrow of life, in the cry of heart wrenching poignancy washed in from a thousand unseen shores by the mewing of grieving gulls."

- Betsy Fancher, The Lost Legacy of Georgia's Golden Isles

This is what we love to do ourselves. The Georgia coast is so fascinatingly interesting and beautiful. 1 night, 2 nights, 3 nights, or the whole week...the whole coast if you like. Let us plan and organize your Georgia Coast Kayak Adventure. Tides, weather, campsites, food, gear...we love this kind of thing. Or, maybe you want to do all the ground work and just need a person with good local knowledge...a Guide. You can use the itineraries below to help plan your trip, or give us a call with your idea/dream and we will try to make it a reality.

"Our trip was MORE then we expected in every way!! The dolphins, salt marsh, bonus alligator...made it a trip to remember! Nigel was an excellent guide, and we appreciate his knowledge and expertise - as well as his awareness of ours! I've never camped on a deserted island before, and it was a wonderful experience. " - Donna and Don Becher, Kentucky.

NEW FOR 2008

FAST and LITE CAMPING TRIPS. These trips are designed for those looking for the next step from day trips, with a future desire to undertake their own self guided kayak adventures. These are fully guided and instructional based adventures for paddlers with basic  foundation of skills. More ground is covered and clients are expected to get involved in the 'infield' descision making and trip planning. We use Little Tybee as our training ground during which time we  will attempt to circumnavigate the island. This program is not recommended for those just starting out in the sport of sea kayaking.

Cost per person -$265

OVERNIGHT ON LITTLE TYBEE

A Great Weekend Getaway for any ability - $195 per person

With over 40 miles of creeks and waterways, Little Tybee is a somewhat deceiving name. It's 4 miles of Atlantic beaches are home to no one but an awesome array of wildlife, such as the mighty loggerhead and many variety of  shorebirds. We will part of the first day paddling through the middle of L.T.'s salt marsh to a beach camp on the southern end. Some late afternoon beachcombing, grilled dinner under the stars, and an evening around the campfire make for the perfect day. After breakfast and coffee at sun up, it's a relatively lazy paddle back to civilization.

Although times vary according to tidal conditions, this trip extends from early morning on the first day through midday of the second. All boats, gear, and meals provided.

CUMBERLAND ISLAND ADVENTURE -3 Days- $375 per person

View Slideshow

Meet at St Mary's. Over seventeen miles of beach makes Cumberland the longest of the Georgian islands. It is the only stretch that is designated National Seashore. Great hiking trails cover most of this very beautiful jungle island. On route to our base campsite, we will stop for lunch at the palatial Plum Orchard Mansion. On the second day we will have the option of paddling around Little Cumberland Island to Christmas Creek. One full day will be given to hiking and island exploration. The last morning is spent breaking camp and  paddling back. All boats, gear, and meals provided.

SAPELO ISLAND ADVENTURE

View Slideshow

Want to experience something unique? Sapelo Island is, we think, one of the most  interesting places on the east coast of the United States. It is a sub- tropical island paradise that has been home simultaneously to millionaires, scientists, agriculturalists, slaves, and Native Americans. Charles Lindbergh landed his plane on the beach on several occasions. The history of this place is intense and continues to play out today. All boats, gear, and meals provided.

ALTAMAHA RIVER TRIP

The largest river flowing entirely in Georgia, the Altamaha is undamed and fed by it's parent streams the Ocmulgee and the Oconee. Much of the river is bordered by bottomland swamp forest, and vegetation along it's banks consists of cypress, tupelo, maple, willow, ash, and sweet gum. Sandbars and expansive natural beaches abound, making for great campsites. First night accommodations can be arranged in Savannah before heading out deep into the Georgia boonies. Don't bring the banjo. Trips available in canoe or kayak. All boats, gear, and meals provided.

CUSTOMIZED KAYAK TRIPS ON THE GEORGIA COAST

From Tybee Island to Sapelo lies the most beautiful stretch of the Georgia Coast. We offer a guiding service to this area. If you have an idea or adventure in mind, we can provide the logistical planning and support to enhance your experience. Price varies according to your needs...just drop us a line!
