Otherwise
known as Nigel and Kristin Law, they are a husband and wife team and owners of
Savannah Canoe and Kayak. Originally from England, Nigel's outdoor career
in the United States began as a Program Director at a camp for the
disabled. Prior to Savannah Canoe and Kayak, his professional experience in the paddlesports
industry included working as a manager and guide trainer at a local outfitter's,
and instructing and guiding for Rutabaga Outdoor Programs in the Great
Lakes area. As
well as studying in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, Kristin has a Degree
in Anthropology and speaks several languages. She has been a commercial kayak guide
and instructor for 12 years.
"We moved
to the Georgia Coast for one reason... the paddling. With dozens of
undeveloped barrier islands, lazy rivers, and a terrific climate, the little
discovered Georgia Coast is a painter's paradise. That's why we started
Savannah Canoe and Kayak.
A
few years ago we paddled 3,000 miles from Wisconsin to the Florida Keys - and then took on the
even more ambitious project of writing a book about it.
Other trips have taken us to many parts of the world...Central America,
Africa, India, and Europe. We hope to continue pushing our way through the
waters of the world one stroke at a time.
Now,
after nine years of growth and building support, and thousands
of on-water trips, classes, and adventures, we have opened
Savannah's largest paddlesports retail store. We
are pleased to provide a full range of services, both on-water
and off, to promote the great sport of paddling, and to
play our part in helping to preserve this beautiful coast. We
hope you will join us."

spent six months in a canoe with Nigel and he was a pain in the rear."

Steve
Braden When doubt arises, we say " What would Steve
Braden do?". In nearly 20 years of sea kayaking, Steve has
paddled the GA Coast many, many times. A keen naturalist, Steve is
dedicated to protecting and preserving the GA Coast. He has also hiked
the AT with his wife. Combined with his powerful and consistent
technique, Steve's teaching style is calm, kind and methodical. We are
pleased to be associated with Steve, who helps with our camping
expeditions, full day, and half day programs. Retired

Nick
Scoville From
a very early age,
marine
biology, and all things to do with the ocean, have been a big part
of Nick's life. Aside from paddling a variety of canoes and
kayaks, Nick is an avid boat builder. His southern charm and guiding
style is so laid back, you almost need subtitles.. but his knowledge and
enthusiasm for the marine environment is infectious. Nick is also on our
Savannah Surf Team as top dog wave ski master.

Zachary Smith He's
back! Home grown in Savannah, Zach has a personal love for the environs
and an enthusiastic personality for sharing it. You may also be lucky
enough to catch him playing stand-up bass in one of Savannah's finest
establishments. Kudos to Zach for recently completing the AT Trail.

Preston Orr As
SC&K's fashion guru, Preston is admired by many a lass for his
extensive hat collection both on water and off. He has guided in
the Low Country for ten years, is our go-to guy for kayak fishing,
and holds the proud title of SC&K's Whitewater Thriller Man. Road
trip, anyone? |

Kelly Dmetruk
Our Greenland Contingent! Stealth and sleek, Kelly wears the
traditional Greenland coat at SC&K. From making her own
skin-on-frame kayak, to sharing her love of the many beautiful Greenland
rolls, Kelly reminds us of the roots and evolution of kayaking. When not
teaching, rolling, or surfing, Kelly also bears the burden of office
assistant for behind the scenes SC&K foundational support. |

Larry
Dixon Larry started looking for the perfect kayak
about 20 years ago. He has since owned just about every sea kayak
available and financially supported GA coast paddle sports from day one.
Rumored to be working for the CIA, Larry can be easily recognized
on the water... often not sitting in his cockpit, and
perhaps surfing backwards on large waves without a paddle! We can
think of no one better than Larry to run our Kayaks 101 class. ACA

His knowledge of kayak construction and 'use of' is as comprehensive as

supporting the Savannah paddling community, Cindy is now sharing her
enthusiasm and knowledge as a guide for SC&K. Her infectious
