THE TRIPLE We are very pleased with the performance of our new Triple-seater kayak and are glad to be able to offer trips for families with youngsters and/or those with disabilities. The boat is very stable, fast, and comfortable. Our youngest sailor so far was not yet 3 years of age.

After looking long and hard for a suitable tandem kayak, we decided that if you want something done, you have to do it yourself. We were looking for a boat that would be a good platform for video and photography, birding trips, and just plain old dolphin hunting... So we bought a kit from those knowledgeable folks at Chesapeake Light Craft, and did it like this. |
/ The boat is delivered by a couple of geezers in a white van. Jan 7th, 04.
/ Using the 'floor bench', the bilge and side panels are glued together.
/ Sheers are glued to the side panels.
/ Hull panels are stitched together...
/...and suspended from the ceiling.
/ Bulkheads are stitched in. Hull interior is ready for glassing.
/ Interior glassed and deck beams added. Jan 31.
/ Sheathing hull with 1 piece of glass.
/ Extra glass and resin added to cloth. Time to make some paddles.

/ Foot pegs and end pours complete. Sheers planed.
/ The deck is added. Feb11 .
/ Deck trimmed and sanded. Hatches and cockpits cut out.
/ Deck glassed and deck seams taped.
/ Cockpit coamings added. Hatch covers assembled. Feb 20th.
/ African face mask added. Bow bifurcated.

/ Hull painted, coamings glassed and painted. Rudder added, but not installed.
/ Deck varnished March 1-3. Hatch covers completed.
/ Deck rigging added.
/ Rudder installed.
/ ...and hey presto! Mast/Harpoon drying to the right.
Splash down. March 5th, 2004.
Come take her for a spin!
